by Laura Jerrolds

MARIAN NIXON: THE NICEST GIRL IN HOLLYWOOD by Laura Jerrolds is the first-ever full-length biography on the silent film and early talkies actress. Marian Nixon was known for her girl-next-door image and dazzling charm, which warmed the hearts of audiences across movie houses in the 1920s and 1930s. After being abandoned by a Vaudeville troupe and penniless in Los Angeles, Nixon tried to break into the movies in order to survive. Directors soon noticed her amongst a crowd of extras, realizing that this petite girl had something big to offer, and they began giving her featured roles. Her big break came when she played opposite Reginald Denny in I'LL SHOW YOU THE TOWN (1925), to which she then became a regular leading lady for him. It was while working with Denny in pictures such as WHERE WAS I? (1925) and WHAT HAPPENED TO JONES(1925) that she met her future husband, Director William A. Seiter. The biography of Marian Nixon covers her entire life story, from her upbringing as a first-generation American citizen, to her dancing career that her parents disapproved of, to the time when she was called "The Mary Pickford of the Talkies" in the early 1930s, to her years as the mother of three beloved children, and everything in between. The book includes 150 pictures of Marian Nixon---many that have never before been seen, a detailed filmography, and a foreword by her grandson, Nick Griffin, screenwriter and producer."

6x9, hardcover, 378 pages with a covered designed by Marlene Weisman.
